Level 200s: Emerging Writers – Number the Stars

In January 2025, join us for Number the Stars by Lois Lowry, a touching story about friendship, courage, and doing what’s right even in the most challenging times. The book follows ten-year-old Annemarie Johansen as she helps her best friend, Ellen, escape from the Nazis during WWII. This story teaches us about bravery, the importance of standing up for others, and how even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

What We’ll Do:

• Literary Elements: Learn about characters, setting, and theme in ways that are fun and easy to understand.

• Writing Practice: Write short paragraphs to explain what we’ve read and share your thoughts.

• Skills Work: Practice vocabulary, spelling, and grammar to improve your writing.

• Story Summaries: Learn how to retell important parts of the story in your own words.

• Dates: January 2025, Tuesdays at 12:30 PM

• Cost: $65

• Required: book included if registration occurs prior to December 20th

This class is perfect for students building reading and writing skills while learning about an important time in history.
