Level 200s: Emerging Writers – Who Were the Navajo Code Talkers?

In February 2025, join us to learn about the fascinating history of the Navajo Code Talkers, a group of brave Navajo men who created an unbreakable code that helped the Allies win WWII. This book introduces students to their heroic contributions while celebrating Navajo culture and resilience.

What We’ll Do:

• History Exploration: Discover the story of the Navajo Code Talkers and their role in WWII.

• Vocabulary & Spelling: Build language skills with new words from the book and related topics.

• Writing Practice: Write non-fiction paragraphs to share what you’ve learned about these incredible heroes.

• Summarizing Skills: Learn to retell key facts in your own words.

• Required: Students must bring their own copy of Who Were the Navajo Code Talkers?
