Level 200s: Emerging Writers – Shiloh
In March 2025, join us to read Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, a heartwarming story about a young boy, Marty, and a dog named Shiloh. Together, they face tough choices about kindness, responsibility, and doing what’s right. This touching novel helps students explore important life lessons while growing their reading and writing skills.
What We’ll Do:
• Literary Elements: Learn about settings, themes, and characters in the story.
• Vocabulary & Spelling: Practice new words from the book and improve language skills.
• Writing Reflections: Share your thoughts and understanding through story reflections
History: Discuss the history of the Appalachian region and childhood in the 1950s in post-war rural America. We will also briefly discuss the rise of animal welfare laws and protections.

• Book Provided: Register by February 20th to receive a copy of Shiloh for free!
