Tasty Cells! Elementary Anatomy Class

In Week One of our anatomy class, we’ll jump into the world of tiny building blocks! We’ll learn what cells are, how they make copies of themselves, and how they work together to build our bodies from the inside out. We’ll explore what makes animal cells different from plant cells and meet some one-celled “mini-beasts.” For a fun, hands-on project, students will make an edible animal cell model using jello and candies like M&Ms, Skittles, Pull & Peel Twizzlers, Nerds, and Sweet Tarts to show all the parts! They should bring their favorite candies to use as cell pieces, we will all share. 

students should ensure they have a bag of small bag candy (M&Ms, Skittles, Smarties, Sweet Tarts, Pull & Peel Twizzlers, Nerds, etc) to share and a journal.
