TEEN Anatomy, WEEK 1: Cells
TEEN Anatomy, WEEK 1: Cells
SUPPLIES ARE PAID FOR AHEAD OF TIME. No refunds or credits.
Students must attend at least 2 out of the 3 science classes in November to dissect eyeballs in December. Dissection will be an additional cost.
In Week One of our anatomy class, we’ll dive into the amazing world of cells, discovering what they are, how they replicate, and how DNA in the nucleus drives cellular function. We’ll discuss how cells maintain homeostasis and how they work together to form tissues, organs, and entire systems. We’ll also explore single-celled organisms and the key differences between plant and animal cells.
For a hands-on activity, students will create a colorful, edible model of a cell using a jello mold and various candies to represent different cell parts. Students should bring candies like M&Ms, Skittles, Nerds, Pull and Peel Twizzlers, and Sweet Tarts for this interactive lab to share and a journal
