NOTE: 

Teen Study hall will occur Thursdays 12-1:20 in the same building as this course and Spanish language. 

Teen Spanish Language Courses will occur in the same building Wednesdays 10:30-11:30 & Thursdays 1:30-2:30

"Verse to Thesis: Poetry & Argument" is an engaging 4 week course where students explore poetry and literature to develop their creative and analytical skills.

They will start by learning about the rhythm and structure of poems, then apply this knowledge in hands-on writing exercises that transform prose into poetry and vice versa.

As they progress, students delve into the themes of the text and craft their own thesis statements, which they refine through editing and discussions.

The course culminates in a presentation where students showcase their polished thesis and a free verse poem, demonstrating both their critical thinking and creative expression.

This class is best for teens who are ready to refine their writing. Students do not need any prior knowledge on these topics before entering the class. They should be able to read and write proficiently, as well as understand and discuss a text. 

This class will be taught and structured like a college course. It is NOT a college-level course, it is preparing students for the environment of a college class.
